Color My World week 3: paint

This week I'm supposed to paint something in my colors of pink and orange.

There's not much in my bathroom I can paint--I'm renting, and I'm not painting the walls or the vanity.  Or the toilet, despite last week's intimations.  

When I unpacked, I came across these apothecary jars with little wicker balls inside.

 They were originally in my bookshelf in the living room, but I moved them into the bathroom and spraypainted them pink, orange and gold.

I am eh on the gold...I think they will be repainted pink and orange.

I also framed the rug remnant from last week.

My budget for this room is minimal, so I  looked through the garage for a suitable frame. I didn't find any.  But, I did find an old corkboard.

I sprayglued the rug onto the corkboard and anchored it with a few flathead pushpins.

I hotglued orange ribbon all around the edges.

Color My World week 1: inspiration

I'm joining a group of wonderful bloggers in a color challenge called Color My World.  The idea is to use a new color in my house.  I'm going to be using pink.  And orange.  Together!

I know, I'm supposed to use a color I haven't used before.  Except have you seen my house? Its kind of a rainbow already (green, navy, teal, aqua, coral, cobalt blue, yellow, orange, hot pink, light pink, red, charcoal, beige....).  The only colors I haven't used so far are light gray and purple, and that's because I don't particularly like those colors, so....pink and orange it is!  I think this should count, even though I have pink in my daughter's room and orange in the boys room and the bathroom. My long time readers might remember that I tried to do my daughter's room in pink and orange last year but it failed and then morphed into pink and brown and green so really, this is my second attempt at pink and orange.  This time it will work.  I hope.

I'm going to be decorating my powder room on the first floor.  Its off the foyer, in a little hallway that contains the garage entrance and the coat closet.  I envision it as being a little jewel box of color that surprises you when you open the door.  Sadly, since I am renting, I won't be painting the room pink or orange, but will be working with the cream colored paint and builder-grade vanity that is already there.
