Curtains for the guest bedroom

We have a fourth bedroom downstairs. It currently serves as a guest bedroom.  As you might guess from the below pictures, I haven't gotten around to decorating it much.

The horse painting will stay.  I have a million curtains out in the garage, there has to be at least one pair that will look good with the painting.

Here are all of my options:

The guest room is on the dark side, so I'm leaning towards lighter curtains.  I loved when I had the painting in the guest room in the old house with the dark navy curtains, but that room was painted white and had the Nate Berkus bedding to lighten it up, but here the room is darker and the Nate Berkus bedding is being used in my master bedroom at the moment.  (Sometimes I kick myself that I didn't buy that Nate Berkus bedding in the orange color too, even though I had nowhere to put it.)

Side tangent: I'm also thinking of trying to sell those white lamps on craigslist.  They need 18 inch shades, which I can't find for less than $80 per shade. I've looked for two years for lampshades for those lamps.  I could buy two lamps with lamp shades from Target for cheaper than replacing the shades.

Your curtain vote, please.  The orange trellis?  The green bleeding eyeballs?

  1. i like the simple white and gold ones and i would hang them along the whole wall (looks like a shorter wall with windows off center, but i think that could help lengthen that wall?)

    1. I do like the white and gold ones! I only have one pair, though, and hanging them along the whole wall would mean buying another set.

  2. Orange trellis. Or white and gold. Or maybe the blue? I know. I'm no help at all!

  3. Orange trellis. My first thought was the white and gold, but on second thought, I think it might be too plain. Maybe hang one and look at it for a day?

    1. good idea! I think what I really need is to figure out what bedding I want to use, and figure out what works with that.

  4. I like the pink floral. Furthest top right. Do they have the brown to help bring in the pillow covers? The navy duvet or blanket or whatever that is at the foot of the bed needs to be something brighter andmorelively. More pink? Emerald green?

    1. I love those curtains--but I think the room is going to end up being Greg's room soon, so I may not go the pink route. (Although if I did the pink curtains have lots of brown in them!)

  5. Blue leaves are my first choice; orange trellis are my second choice.

Seems like you were just putting up curtains in the last house.
