Picture over a window?

This stupid little window in my foyer has defied my decorating attempts.

Bailey at Peppermint Bliss used a picture to cover a window in her previous house.

Bailey's bathroom is significantly fancier than my foyer, but I love the concept.  Think it would work in my foyer?

  1. This just may be your opportunity to fancy up your foyer with some art and a pretty frame. Something bold that will make the window fade into the background. I look forward to see what you do.

  2. Why would you want to cover a window?

  3. No disrespect to the other person, but that picture they used looks TERRIBLE. TERRIBLE!

You could do it better. Make sure you cover the entire window. Don't leave the tops and bottom showing.

  4. I'm going to be different and say I love the picture on the window idea. Can't much make the ridiculous narrow window and fugly verticals any worse, so why not go wild. How about a fancy framed chalkboard?

  5. I don't think I would like to have a very formal man staring at me as I exited the tub after a long soak.

I must admit that I'm not a fan of the picture idea. To me it looks VERY awkward. I think you could do a fabric insert where it's gathered at the top and bottom (on the insert rods). If you hate that idea as being too tradiitonal, what about getting a stained glass piece made and hanging it in the window? You could have one that would cover the whole window but it would still let light in.
