Mother's Day

I had a lovely Mother's Day, how about you?

My mother is visiting, and she is an accomplished seamstress.  So I put her to work sewing lots of things. Like these pretty pillows.

Back to your oar, Mother.

The kids and I did a painting project that I can't wait to share. No, that's not ketchup and mustard on my feet. I think making art with the kids may be a new Mother's Day tradition.

I fell off the no-sugar bandwagon---nay, I jumped off and faceplanted into a pan of delicious carmelitas:

We also attempted some lemon bars, but they didn't come out right, and Greg said "do we have to eat the lemon juice cake?"  Which was a fairly accurate assessment.

Monday I will climb back on the no-sugar train, but there are a few hours before midnight and half a pan of carmelitas calling my name.

Hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day!

  1. your pillows are gorgeous and i think i may have face planted into those if someone put a pam in front of me, too!

  2. Lisa, I had to comment because I did a Jackson Pollock project with my daughter's class of 4th graders last week.  All thirty of our feet looked just like yours (as did the grass outside their classroom!).  What did you make?  Good job on the no sugar long have you been doing it?  I need to seriously try cutting back on sugar too.

thank you!  The carmelitas are really delicious, if you like chocolate and caramel.

  4. Lisa, I love the photo of your daughter and mom at the sewing machine; reminds me of when I would watch my Grandmother sew.

thanks Tisha--I know there is a picture of me the same age, in the same pose, too.

Yes, you're correct, we did a Jackson Pollack type painting!  I will post about it when I reveal the living room in a few weeks.

I've been doing the no sugar thing for about two weeks.  I've lost five pounds, but I ate a heck of a lot of sugar previously.

  7. Those pillows look awesome!  Love the fabric!  And bummer about the lemon bars, but at least one dessert was successful!

thank you! I have one more pillow I just finished a few minutes ago too, can't wait to share it.

Yay! You're commenting! I love comments!
