Changing horses midstream, or, I think I'm jettisoning my master bedroom design

For the past year or so I have been working away on my master bedroom with my chaing mai dragon painting as the design inspiration (in both this house and the last house).

But wait!  This past weekend my mom gave me a duvet that I have loved for years--Pottery Barn's Woodland Organic duvet.

What to do?? It works perfectly with my coral quilt, and will go nicely with the yellow striped curtains, or the green trellis ones I'd like to buy soon.  But it doesn't play very well with the chiang mai dragon painting, or with the pink splatter painting I just put up.

When I was painting the pink splatter painting, I thought to myself "this would look nice in Princess's room."  So I will probably put that in her room.

The chiang mai dragon, however, is the inspiration for the entire room.  I'm not sure where else to put that painting, or what to for art in its place.

Anyone else ever done an entire room around an inspiration piece, only to stop in the middle and go in a different direction?   I am also thinking that my dining room curtains weren't the right choice. Ahem.

  1. Awe, I like the dining room curtains. As far as your bedroom dilemma, I like the new bedding, but you could ask your husband which he prefers!

  3. I agree with Cassie. Which do you like more? You spent an awful lot of time on the Chiang Mai. If you're moving it make sure you put it somewhere where you (and others) can appreciate it.

  4. I think it will work out great, and you can find another spot for the chiang mai- maybe in the living room?? I haven't seen enough of it in the new place to know whether that might work.... or do you guys have a cool office/study space in Cali?

  6. Caing Mai goes into the living room, over the fireplace. Or, you can send it to me. :)

  7. What if the dragon was hung like, across from the front door, so you see it right when you walk in?

  8. It may go in the playroom...or it may stay in the bedroom. I've been moving it around the house, looking for a good place for it.
