I'm still here!

So, that was a bit of an unanticipated blogging break, eh?  Nothing exciting to report. I've just been really, really busy with other things.  No exciting home decor projects to show for it.  No deep thoughts to share.  Perhaps a few iphone pictures?

I managed to go eight weeks without pumping my own gas, but sadly, that streak came to an end last week.

My reflection in the van is sort of funhouse mirror-ish...contrary to the picture's appearance, I am not 87 months pregnant (or any months pregnant, for that matter), nor am I smuggling a beachball under my dress.

The Mister and I went to an Angels vs. Yankees baseball game.

I gotta tell you, if you don't mind looking like you're 80 years old, my $11 old lady glasses are so useful in sunny southern California.

I drove a few hours out to Palm Desert to meet a friend for dinner, and the landscape is just so different from what I'm used to. It was mountains and desert and windmill farms for the whole ride out there.

We're not in New Jersey anymore, Toto.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring any cash and the GPS put me on a toll road.  I pulled over and started scrabbling for change under the seats. I haven't done that since college. (Note to self, get the West Coast version of EZPass soon.)  I paid one toll but had to blow through another....I expect to get a ticket mailed to my house in the next week or so.  But it was so good to see my friend  :-)

I have sort of fallen off the no-sugar-no-flour wagon lately.

I took a picture of my darling children voluntarily HOLDING HANDS the other day.

Another rare picture of this one smiling at the camera:

We had a leak in our upstairs bathroom this week. The property management handyman came out, said that the leak was coming from the shower handles not being caulked correctly.  I said no, the flood coming out of my downstairs ceiling was not caused by a mere crack around the handles, there is something wrong with a pipe under the tub. We argued about it back and forth, I said fine, you stand here in the downstairs bathroom and I will go turn on the water upstairs and we shall see, shall we?

I turn on the water, go back downstairs, and we stand there together for a few minutes while nothing happens.  He pontificates on how it was the shower handle.  Then the ceiling fell down and water poured out.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

I am in New Jersey for the weekend, so I probably won't post again till Tuesday or so.  Hope your weekend rocks.

  4. So are you enjoying California so far? I'm actually from Palm Springs and my dad still lives out that way in Palm Desert. It is definitely different from New Jersey.
