ribbon-trimmed roller shades

We put (too small) roller shades in the all of the upstairs bedrooms, since I wanted something that would block the very strong sunlight we get in the afternoon.  The roller shades do a good job blocking the sun, but they are on the plain and sort of ugly side.

Months ago I came across this tutorial from the blog Isabella and Max Rooms, and I filed that away for future use. This weekend I dug out some trim and got to work.

Here are the blinds in the Princess's room.  I am in lurrrrrve with this room.  I want to move into it myself.  The yellow pompoms are so adorable, and the pink ricrac is even more adorable.  Its like a three-row trifecta of awesome.

For the boys room, I went a wee bit more manly, and used two rows of navy grosgrain ribbon.

sorry for the flash photography; I couldn't get the light right.
Next on my list are the roller blinds in the master bedroom.  I'd like to use navy pompom trim, but I've been to a number of places and they are all sold out, so I ordered some.

This had to be the easiest project ever.  Get a yard of trim, use fabric glue to glue it on the roller shade.  Voila, done.  I can't even tell you how happy I am with the ones in the Princess's room.  Every time I see them its a little zing of happiness.

I still can't believe how much you already have done considering you've been there a week. :-)
